Local Blogger, Aubrey Williams covers her visit to Chauhan Ale & Masala House
After meeting chef Maneet Chauhan a couple of times (she’s seriously the sweetest person ever), I felt like I needed to eat at her restaurant! Dan and I made plans to meet with my work friends SB and MM for a weeknight dinner at Chauhan Ale & Masala House.
The Tennessean’s Jim Myers enlists chef Chauhan’s help to “guide [him] through the aisles of an Indian market, and help [him] demystify many of the ingredients that pack the shelves with vibrant flavors and rich colors.”
Playboy.com’s Alyson Sheppard writes “If your Indian restaurant is playing sitar music, you’re at the wrong Indian restaurant.
Chopped judge and chef Maneet Chauhan wants to update how Americans perceive Indian food (and music). She recently moved her entire family from New York to Nashville to open a modern Indian gastropub, Chauhan Ale & Masala House, which was met with rave reviews. Here Chauhan incorporates Southern staples like collard greens and black-eyed peas into traditional Indian dishes, and serves that alongside pints of addictive Indian-spiced beers like saffron-cardamom and chai porter…”
Zagat named Chauhan one of the 10 hottest restaurants in Nashville stating “celebrity chef Maneet Chauhan fell in love with Nashville; now, she has gifted the city with this colorful, lively mash-up of a British gastropub and traditional Indian fare.”
“Chef Maneet Chauhan, […] led a question/answer session with Mayoral Candidate Charles Robert Bone and the Indian Association of Nashville (IAN) leadership. The event, Masala Monday, took place June 8 at Chauhan Ale and Masala House on 12th and Porter.”
It’s no secret that Taylor Swift loves to cook… But sometimes, a girl just needs to eat out!
On Sunday night, the Blank Space singer hit up Nashville hotspot Chauhan Ale & Masala House with friends Victoria’s Secret model Lily Alridge and her husband, Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill.
And Swift’s favorite menu item? “Taylor specifically mentioned the Kale Pakora Chaat [and] said she loved it,” says Chauhan who snapped a photo with the songstress. “They thanked me for coming to Nashville and opening such an amazing place here, which is such an honor for me to hear!”
Located on a tucked-away corner of the North Gulch, Chauhan Ale & Masala House from chef Maneet Chauhan is brimming with energy: The room is dim, the music is upbeat, and there’s a flickering light show along the brick wall. This Indian eatery is the first in a new wave of expansion into the neighborhood.
